Out-of-School activities promoting work readiness are available to those who are eligible to receive these services. Activities include GED classes emphasizing labor market information, career exploration, decision-making and mentoring, job readiness, and work experiences that offer real experience at job sites. Services for Out-of School youth are available year round.
Bradford County Action’s Out-of –School Program is available to individuals ages 17-21 years of age who reside in Bradford County and are not enrolled in school.
The Out-of-School Program has placed workers at sites such as Mt. Pisgah State Park, Towanda Memorial Hospital, Stoll Conservation Center, Bradford County Manor, Penn State Cooperative Extension, Bradford County Library, Martha Lloyd Community Services, Northeast Pennsylvania Legal Aid and school districts in Bradford County, as well as a number of worksites throughout the county.
Bradford County Action’s Out-of-School program offers students the opportunity to investigate careers, talk to employers and discover what it takes to get and keep a job.

Training Sponsorship of up to 2 years may be available to those who are eligible. Vocational training must be from a WIA approved training site. All candidates whose training allows for PELL/PHEAA grants must attempt to access available PELL/PHEAA grants prior to WIA payment of tuition.
Eligibility for training sponsorship is mandatory. An eligibility determination is necessary and is based on household size and total family income. Some types of income are excluded.
Those interested may sign up following an information session at the Careerlink in Towanda. Although an applicant may be eligible, they may not necessarily meet the requirements of a particular program or they may not be able to be served through BCA. In these instances, the applicant will be referred to another program that could assist them in meeting their goals.
