Adult Programs:

Career Prep:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED to attend.
  • Class provides academic brush up for those entering employment (to prepare for employment tests, etc.) and for those entering classroom training. There is also guidance provided for those students participating in WIA sponsored training.
  • Attitude, dependability (through attendance, punctuality, and assignments), and abilities are assessed through this class.
  • An Introduction to computers geared for either the workplace or training is scheduled.

Academic Assistance/Basic Skills Brush Up/Enrichment:

  • Anyone 17 yrs. or older may participate. No eligibility requirements.
  • Geared to improving areas individuals need help with before classroom training or employment tests.

Classroom Training:

  • Sponsorship of up to 2 years of full time college or vocational training.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED if required by the training provider. (Some possible exceptions - truck driving and nurse aide programs.)
  • Must have completed the WIA Career Prep class or an equivalent through B.C.A. staff assistance.
  • Participants must determine the school/training site, program they are interested in, take care of PELL and PHEAA loans and grants and discuss goals with B.C.A. staff at scheduled appointments.
  • Time sheets signed by training site staff/instructors are required to verity days & hours participants have spent in the activity.

Pre-vocational Training:

  • Must have high school diploma, GED, and reading and math testing levels of 12.9 for most subject areas. Post high school remediation is available for this.
  • Pre-vocational training in computers. Includes word processing and spreadsheets, bookkeeping, business math, business English, office procedures, medical terminology, and spelling.
  • Pre-vocational training in retail. Includes use of cash registers and scanners, inventory, and customer service.
  • Prepares students for entry level clerical and retail positions or for more advanced post secondary training in the fields of clerical or accounting. Sponsorship to further training sites may be available based on student levels and the availability of funding.

Services for individuals:

  • Employability Workshops are available to anyone regardless of income. These workshops are available at the CareerLink in Towanda. Workshops cover a variety of topics which can be helpful to those who are interested in job search techniques and information. The CareerLink computers are available on a self serve basis to anyone regardless of income. More intensive service may require an eligibility determination.
  • Intensive Job Search Services are available for those who are eligible upon completion of the employability workshops. After completing a workshop, individuals may want to consider services provided through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) in the area of employment and training. Eligibility is required for further services which include: individualized professional resume preparation and an ongoing supply of resumes, intensive assistance with job search activities, pre-vocational clerical and retail classes, and/or training sponsorship.
  • Community Based Classes area available to anyone regardless of income. These programs provide academic skills refresher classes and basic computer classes. All new students attend an initial information and assessment class at which the times and days of the week that classes are currently available are given. New students may begin as soon as they have completed this initial class. Available to anyone 17 years and older.
